Our commitment to creating opportunities and changing lives remains unwavering as we seek to create a better future for our customers, colleagues and the communities we serve.
Whilst we continually improve the landscape of the North West, it’s the lives we touch that make a difference as we contribute to the social and economic development of the region.
Creating opportunities for our colleagues
By creating meaningful employment opportunities, we ensure that the workforce of tomorrow is able to fulfil their purpose. Throughout 2023, we supported 26 traditional apprentices across the Group, a figure that is set to rise to 30 placements in 2024.
Two neurodiverse individuals secured a place on our Supported Internship programme, whilst three female students joined us to take part in our Pathway into Construction initiative, which aims to encourage women to consider a career in the construction industry.
Employee wellbeing continues to take precedence, with a particular focus placed on physical and mental health this January. Starting the year off right, we have developed a range of initiatives to support our colleagues, with multiple healthy giveaways, a fully-funded six-week strength and conditioning programme at Next Level Fitness and a visit from the NHS Living Well bus to provide health checks and offer wider guidance.
Creating opportunities for our customers
We’re tackling the cost-of-living crisis head on, supporting our customers with meaningful guidance on how to lower their bills, keep warm this winter and access vital support, as well as providing 620 customers with support through our Financial Inclusion Service.
More importantly, we’re fixing the problem at the source. Throughout 2023, we invested £29.3m into building 157 new homes to EPC B standard, and invested a further £18.27m in improving over 10,000 properties, creating homes that are fit for the future.
Creating opportunities for the communities we serve
The impact of Sovini’s Big Community Christmas was abundant, supporting over 10,000 people across the North West during the festive season with community events, food, care & toy packages, support packs and heating vouchers for vulnerable customers.
Our sponsorship of Cash for Kid’s Mission Christmas helped over 35,000 local families, with colleagues donating toys, volunteering their time and raising over £2.5k through our innovative 12 Days of Christmas raffle.
We are delighted to continue to make a positive contribution so that our customers, colleagues and communities can continue to thrive.
