Each colleague is instrumental in our mission of creating opportunities and changing lives. Our Finance team is essential to this effort, ensuring we remain financially secure to maximise our impact on our communities.

As a key contributor to the social and economic development of the North West, we have an active development scheme that is set to build 1,000 high-quality, affordable homes over the next five years. Nathan Carr, Financial Planning and Development Analyst, plays a vital role in this scheme, with a key responsibility of reviewing all new development appraisals.

“I help to achieve the Group’s purpose by ensuring that The Sovini Group has a healthy ongoing new-build development programme, allowing them to continue to build and invest in their housing portfolio.”

Nathan began his journey into the Finance industry in 2013 as a Purchase Ledger Assistant, before joining The Sovini Group as Finance Assistant in 2016. Since then, Nathan has gone from strength to strength, progressing to Finance Officer in 2018, Data Analyst for the Development team in 2019 before returning to the Finance department when he secured his current role.

His experience provided him with a deep understanding of the financial aspects of new-build development and how the process works. This invaluable knowledge led to his responsibility of monitoring the development programme and reviewing all financial appraisals prior to sign-off by the Development Steering Committee.

The Group’s dedicated Learning and Development team have supported Nathan through his progression, providing him with ongoing support and training. Upon his return to the Finance department, they provided full funding for his ACCA course, which will enable him to become a Chartered Accountant.

My personal development plan has always been to become a fully qualified Chartered Accountant. Since being at The Sovini Group, my goal is close to becoming complete and I am now beginning to look to the future.”

Looking to the future, Nathan’s long-term goal of becoming a Chartered Accountant is within reach, as he only needs to complete one more exam following three years of studying. Following this, he hopes to progress into a more senior role whilst balancing his career with becoming a first-time father.

Nathan’s role is a prime example of how each colleague’s contribution counts, as his input into our new-build development scheme ultimately creates housing for those who need it most, whilst ensuring the Group remains commercially viable.

Through Discover our Purpose, we’ll be sharing more colleague case studies, highlighting how their contribution counts as we strive for a better future.
