Liverpool based construction firm, Sovini Construction, part of The Sovini Group, has completed the handover of its new housing scheme, Capricorn Way, situated in Bootle, Merseyside to One Vision Housing.

With a significant demand for affordable housing in the area, the development is set to diversify property types offered through One Vision Housing. Inclusive of twenty-one houses and seven bungalows, Capricorn Way seeks to create opportunities and change lives in the local community through affordable rent tenures, with a goal to increase the long-term sustainability of Bootle.

As part of The Sovini Group’s development framework to deliver over 1,000 high quality, affordable new build homes within the next five years, the twenty-eight-plot scheme was approved following a highly collaborative approach to the consultation and design.

Through a unified approach with their client, Sovini Construction and the award-winning housing association favoured a traditional vernacular which reflected community and accessibility principles. Working to understand and incorporate these needs was key in greatly contributing to the regeneration of the area.

As a principal partner in the continuing regeneration of Bootle it was critical to Sovini Construction to transform an area once utilised for fly tipping with no safe pedestrian footpaths to an area of quality homes and safe infrastructure much to the appreciation of the local community. Streams of trees and shrub planting now define pedestrian routes through the development, whilst footpaths have been surfaced to complement the landscaping. In addition, driveway parking eliminates the need for footpath and road parking, easing congestion.

Steve Parrington, Sovini Construction Managing Director, says:

“We are delighted to be able to handover our new social housing development to One Vision Housing ahead of schedule. We are driven by our purpose to create opportunities and change lives and embed a culture of outstanding commitment to providing high-quality properties. Our community and customers, in this case, One Vision Housing are central to the project. We look forward to seeing the development thrive within the community for years to come”.

He adds:

“We do more than create outstanding homes, we create communities and that’s our purpose”.

Ian Mitchell, Managing Director of Housing at The Sovini Group added:

“This new development will provide much needed affordable housing to the Bootle area. We look forward seeing inclusive, thriving communities blossom here, as we welcome customers into their new homes.”

“It has been a pleasure to work alongside Sovini Construction to deliver Capricorn Way, and we eagerly await the completion of future housing developments as part of the Group’s ambitious framework.”

The Sovini Group collaboratively commit to reducing its environmental impact and strive towards net zero carbon emissions. In line with this approach the construction of Capricorn Way involved maximising the performance of components and materials selected during construction, aiming to reduce energy consumption through thermal efficiency and running costs. The new build homes feature environmentally efficient specifications- from low carbon heating and sustainable draining systems to smart meters, timber frames and charging points for electric vehicles.

The regeneration initiative is not just about housing. It aimed to improve the quality of the overall Bootle environment, including recreational and community facilities that have previously suffered from under investment.

The Sovini Group’s commitment to creating lasting legacies in the communities it serves is unmatched. From creating employment opportunities to delivering extensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. A large proportion of the workforce during construction were skilled professionals from the local area including creating opportunities for learning and development for those on apprenticeship programmes.
