We are committed to fulfilling our mission of creating opportunities and changing lives and this mission has been recognised by Liverpool City Council.
During the recent Supported Internship Graduation and Awards Ceremony, we were presented with the Best Partnership Working Award by Liverpool City Council for our Supported Internship programme. Our collaborative approach to partnering with local education providers across the Liverpool City Region was honoured during the ceremony.
Our Supported Internship programme launched in 2023, aiming to provide young people with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) with meaningful work experience opportunities. The programme supports students to gain essential workplace skills and helps to develop confidence in professional settings.
Ryan is 18 years old and joined Sovini Construction in September 2023 as a Supported Intern. During the programme his impact has been exponential, with colleagues noting how he has enhanced their awareness, whilst equipping them with the necessary skills and strategies to support individuals with additional needs, in addition to becoming an integral part of the team.
āI feel like I am a lot more confident, and I feel more independent. My reading and writing have also improved, and I get less distracted by my phone. I am a lot happier with my life, I never thought I would enjoy my work and Iām looking forward to my future in the workplace.ā ā Ryan, Supported Intern
Due to the success of the programme, we will proudly continue to offer supported internships to young people with SEND across the Liverpool City Region, with the goal being to support them in securing long-term employment in the future.
