Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities was welcomed to Liverpool, where she visited Oxford House and the Morris Meadows development, both of which are owned and managed by One Vision Housing, part of The Sovini Group.
The Minister’s visit included a tour around Oxford House, a 16-storey high-rise block in Bootle.
In 2021/22 a £48million regeneration project at the block formed part of a Retrofit for the Future programme, which explored how existing homes can be improved to use less energy, cut carbon emissions and save costs. The project saw the installation of a new roof, energy efficient heating and ventilation systems, external wall insulation, new windows and doors.
Joyce Johnson who lives at Oxford House and has been a customer of One Vision Housing for almost ten years, said: “As Chair of the Resident’s Group at Oxford House, I was pleased to meet with Baroness Scott during her visit. The regeneration project saw the installation of external wall insulation, a new insulated roof and new windows. The new render system has modernised the building and we are delighted with how it looks.”
The Minister also enjoyed a visit to Morris Meadows, a development of 149 new high quality affordable homes built for One Vision Housing on brownfield land, by Group partner Sovini Construction.
Constructed using a ‘fabric first’ approach that focuses on the reduction of energy consumption through thermal efficiency and running costs, the development was proudly named ‘Best Affordable Housing Scheme’ at the YM Liverpool Property & Business Awards in 2022.
