We are proud to announce that together with Sefton Council, we are forging a landmark alliance — the ambitious Sefton Home 2030 initiative, which is set to deliver over 1,000 new affordable homes.
At the heart of this partnership is a commitment to address Sefton’s housing needs by pooling Council-owned land, including former schools and community sites, with the Group’s development pipeline.
The first wave of delivery will see up to 400 homes break ground across eight sites, throughout Bootle, Netherton, Southport, Seaforth, and Formby.

At the Group, we are also advancing plans to deliver 600 additional homes by 2030 through our own developments, delivered via our unique end-to-end supply chain.
Councillor Marion Atkinson, Leader of Sefton Council, passionately stated:
“This partnership is about more than just building homes—it’s about building futures. There is a huge need for affordable housing in Sefton and by addressing that problem it will get people out of temporary accommodation and into safe, healthy homes that will improve their quality of life. At the same time, it will reduce the costs to the Council for expensive temporary accommodation. We are committed to ensuring that every development delivers real value for our residents, with not just affordable housing but also jobs and training opportunities for local people.”
Roy Williams, Chief Executive of The Sovini Group, highlighted this local synergy:
“We’re proud to work alongside Sefton Council to deliver homes through the Group’s end-to-end supply chain. Collaboratively we can ensure value for money, local opportunities, and the sustainability of Sefton.”
The Sovini Group’s unique model, which provides a robust housing solution, enables us to reinvest all commercial profits throughout the partnership back into Sefton – focusing on Sefton Council’s priorities and the development of more affordable homes locally.”
This initiative is designed to provide a significant boost in the supply of social and affordable homes, with targeted support for those who need it most, as well as investment in communities, enhanced community cohesion, and the improvement of public spaces.
The project is also designed to boost the local economy through the creation of local jobs supported by Sefton@Work, in addition to a commitment to the creation of apprenticeships and internships in partnership with Hugh Baird College and Southport College.
The Sefton Home 2030’s strategic plan focuses on the delivery of high-quality affordable homes, prioritising social rent.
This partnership is a defining moment for Sefton, leveraging the strengths and heritage of both the Council and the Group to build sustainable and thriving communities.
