From the Good Vibe Tribe, our dedicated health and wellbeing ambassadors, to our Diversity Leaders who advocate for equality and diversity across the Group, we ensure our colleagues voices are heard as they shape the future of our operations.
Bringing safety to the forefront is our Safety Mates, a brand-new initiative launched by our Health and Safety team. They have already welcomed 21 ambassadors and counting, and their mission is to create a safer workplace for all.
What is the role of a Safety Mate?
Our Safety Mates work in close collaboration with the Health and Safety team to develop new skills and gain a deeper understanding of workplace safety. They act as on-the-ground advocates, using creative discussion groups to engage their colleagues and foster a shared commitment to safety.
Their key responsibilities are to:
- Be a voice for safety, sharing important messages with colleagues
- Share ideas to make our workplace even safer
- Jump into new safety initiatives to shape the future of our culture
- Gain a new perspective on the world of health and safety
They also gain access to a supportive community, both inside and outside of the workplace, with group chats on Microsoft Teams and Whatsapp to share regular hints and tips.
Why did we launch this initiative?
We want safety to be more than just a checklist or a risk assessment to be completed. By integrating Safety Mates across the business, we empower our employees and bring safety to the forefront of daily conversations and actions.
This initiative is about fostering a deeper understanding of what it takes to keep ourselves and others safe. Whether it’s raising awareness of the importance of sun safety or the proper procedures for working at heights, we want to highlight the different risks to ensure that we are always compliant.
