A good home is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s a feeling of safety, comfort and a sense of belonging. At the core of our operations is a commitment to providing affordable, high-quality homes in neighbourhoods our customers are proud to live in – and we can’t do it alone.

We partner with many like-minded organisations who share our vision of a better future. One of our most important partnerships is with Sefton Council. Through this collaboration, we’re working to build more homes, improve children’s services and address key issues in our communities, such as fly-tipping and littering.

Since her appointment last year as the first woman leader of Sefton, Cllr Marion Atkinson, Leader of Sefton Council, has been a key driver in this partnership, ensuring our combined efforts focus on the things that are important to our customers and communities.

Under her leadership, the council has made a firm commitment to improving services across the region and meeting the demand for new homes. This is demonstrated by their success in their recent Ofsted rating for Children’s Services, achieving ‘Good’ overall – a significant turnaround from their previous rating of ‘Inadequate’ in 2022.

From our regularly distributed Councillor newsletter, tailored to MPs across Sefton, to the wide range of initiatives we have developed to ensure our communities remain safe, clean and sustainable, our work with the Council is vital to our mission.

Partnering to Improve Communities

In communities throughout Sefton, fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour pose a significant challenge, and we want to change that through initiatives that make a true difference.

One of our most impactful is our Alleyway Strategic Action Plan. More than just clearing rubbish, we’re actively engaging with residents, hosting regular community clean-up days and showing our communities that their wellbeing matters to us.

Since April 2024, our dedicated Neighbourhood Services team, alongside Sefton Council, Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, have completed over 17 Days of Action. These days are instrumental in tackling fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour head-on, while providing fire safety education to our customers.

In addition, we have educated students from eight Sefton schools on the dangers of fly-tipping and responsible waste disposal through the Strand Partnership. This inspiring initiative, founded by One Vision Housing, Sefton Council and the Strand Partnership, celebrated local schoolchildren’s role in tackling fly-tipping and boosting community spirit.

Our partnership extends far beyond cleaning up our streets, and we work closely with the Council to offer opportunities to Care Experienced Young People through the launch of our Roots service.

Developed in close collaboration with Sefton Care Experienced Service, this service is specifically tailored to young people preparing to leave care and seeking additional guidance as they establish their independence. It’s a prime example of how our collaborative efforts can make a tangible, life-changing difference to those who need it most.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Leader of Sefton Council, said:

“Working together with The Sovini Group allows us to make a real difference in our community.

Earlier this year, One Vision Housing ran a successful Day of Action with Sefton Council, showing what we can achieve when we team up. Fly-tipping is having a big impact in our neighbourhoods, so we’re committed to tackling it with our partners.

As part of the Poets Partnership, we’ve held clean-up days and a fun day in Poets Park, getting residents involved and making the area a cleaner place to be.

These events aren’t just about clearing waste; they help restore pride and make it clear that fly-tipping won’t be tolerated in Sefton.

Our commitment to a cleaner Sefton is stronger than ever, and we’ll keep working with our partners to make sure that message reaches every corner of the Borough.”

Dr Roy Williams, CEO of The Sovini Group, said:

“We are proud to work in close partnership with Sefton Council to better the lives of those living within our communities.

From clean-up days to offering support to care-experienced young people, we have developed initiatives that make a tangible difference to the day-to-day lives of those who need it most.

We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the Council to create a cleaner, safer Sefton for all.”
