Liverpool County FA were recently handed the Special Recognition Award at the 2020 County FA Recognition Awards for the World in One City League, who work to use football as a way to bring different nationalities together regardless of their age, colour or religious beliefs.
The World in One City League, sponsored by The Sovini Group, is particularly beneficial to local residents in helping to reduce social isolation through community cohesion and it also helps to improve the overall health and wellbeing for participants.
Liverpool County FA CEO, David Pugh said:
“As my tenure as Chief Executive comes to an end, this is a surprise that clearly recognises the magnificent contribution that my team play in the community. It fills me with great pride that we continue to serve this great game. May I personally thank The FA for selecting us as winners of this prestigious award.
“This is a team effort led by Stuart Carrington and Isaac Pollard and it is a fitting tribute to their dedication and hard work. Long may it continue, that we provide everyone with an opportunity to be involved in playing football irrespective of their background.”
David Brown, Director for Pine Court Housing Association, said:
“As members of The Sovini Group and BMENational, we are proud to sponsor such an amazing organisation. The World in One City League supports our ethos of creating inclusive and diverse communities by utilising football as a way to break down barriers. We are so impressed with the work they do and would like to congratulate them on their well-deserved award.”
