What’s in a name? Pine Court cherishes history in building bright future at Livingstone Park

Pine Court Housing Association has embarked on their largest new-build development to date.

Livingstone Park will create 49 new, affordable homes in Birkenhead, comprising 15 two and three bed houses and 34 one and two bedroom apartments.

The name of the development reflects the rich history of the area and Pine Court’s BME heritage.

Livingstone Park lies close to the world-renowned Cammell Laird ship building company which, over the course of its history, has launched numerous notable vessels, including HMS Ark Royal and RMS Mauretania.

In recent years Cammell Laird secured the £200m contract for the Antarctic research vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough.

In 1858 Cammell Laird built what was believed to be the world’s first steel ship, the Ma Robert, for Dr David Livingstone’s groundbreaking expedition to the Zambesi River in Africa.

Dr Livingstone is a celebrated explorer and historical figure who filled huge gaps in western knowledge of central and southern Africa.

A man of working class roots, he campaigned for the abolition of the slave trade having witnessed its horrors first hand. In 2002 Dr Livingstone was ranked among the BBC’s list of Greatest Britons.
